Community Bulletin Board Posting Policy
The Merrimac Public Library Community Bulletin Board and brochure holders are located in the front entryway of the building as well as in the copier room. The board and the holders are to be used for local announcements that are of general informational, educational, or cultural interest to patrons. Please see a staff member for approval before posting any information.
The following items are allowed:
- Materials posted by the Merrimac Public Library Staff
- Materials from any town department of Merrimac
- Postings for upcoming educational, civic, social, charitable, cultural, or recreational activities from Merrimac and the surrounding towns
- Flyers, brochures, announcements or schedules from local non-profit organizations in the local area
- Informational materials from government agencies about services provided
- Materials announcing community services and volunteer organizations
The following items are not allowed:
- Commercial notices, business cards, job postings, items for sale
- Political ads for a political candidate, political party, or ballot measure
The fact that the library, the Friends of the Library, an individual, or organization is granted permission to post on the community bulletin board in the Library in no way constitutes endorsement of the policies or beliefs of that individual or organization by the Library or the Town of Merrimac.
Any requests for reconsideration of a posting will follow the same policy and procedures as for collection materials, as detailed on the “Policy and Procedure for Reconsideration of Library Materials, eResources, Programs, Displays, or Bulletin Board Postings” , as well as the “Request for Reconsideration of Library Materials, eResources, Programs, Displays, or Bulletin Postings Form.”
When reviewing the requirements for posting, the library does not discriminate on the basis of race, age, values, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, cultural or ethnic background, physical, sensory, cognitive or learning disability, economic status, religious beliefs, or views.
